Beckett’s Foods is a leading food processing company operating in the CV2 area of Coventry since 1983. We are now recruiting additional colleagues to join our team. We offer our colleagues stability and a long-term future working for a thriving business.

As we continue to grow, we are looking for a motivated and ambitious Trainee Buyer to join our procurement team. This role will be based in Coventry with regular travel to our other sites within the CPC Foods Group, including overnight stays weekly.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone looking to kick-start a career in buying. As a Trainee Buyer, you will learn all aspects of meat procurement – from sourcing and supplier management to cost negotiation and quality control. You\’ll work closely with experienced Buyers and gain hands-on training in a fast-paced, commercially driven environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the Buying team with day-to-day procurement tasks.

  • Help maintain supplier and product databases.

  • Assist in raising purchase orders and monitoring deliveries.

  • Learn how to analyse sales data and market trends.

  • Build an understanding of product specifications, pricing, and quality standards.

  • Communicate with suppliers and internal departments including technical, logistics, and sales.

  • Undertake training on meat cuts, supply chain processes, and food safety regulations.

  • Daily and weekly data reporting and analysis.

  • Maintaining forecasting and pricing lists

What we’re looking for:

  • A genuine interest in the meat industry and supply chain.

  • Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn.

  • Good communication and teamwork skills.

  • Numerically confident and comfortable with spreadsheets.

  • Organised, proactive, and able to manage time effectively.

  • Previous experience in food, agriculture, or retail is a plus but not essential.
