Why Join Us?
If you’re an ambitious engineer who wants to make your mark on unique, high-profile civil engineering projects in the UK and overseas, Beckett Rankine offers a rare opportunity. We are the UK’s leading specialist maritime civil engineering consultancy, delivering projects that shape cities, protect communities, and connect people. From designing new international ports to revitalising historic Thames piers, our work is as varied as it is rewarding.
This is your chance to step into a senior role where your ideas matter, your leadership is valued, and your career can grow with us.
The Role
We’re looking for a chartered or nearly chartered (within 12 months) Senior Engineer with 4–5+ years’ experience in heavy civil/structural design. Maritime experience is a plus, but not essential – what matters most is your drive to solve complex engineering challenges and deliver lasting impact.
As a key member of our close-knit team, you’ll:
- Lead projects from due diligence and concept design through to construction.
- Collaborate directly with clients and senior management.
- Mentor and support junior engineers and technicians.
- Bring fresh, innovative thinking to infrastructure challenges.
- Work on a mix of UK and international projects: ports, harbours, jetties, flood defences, quays, breakwaters, waterfront developments, and more.
No two days are the same at Beckett Rankine – one week you could be on site inspecting an aging maritime asset, the next you could be shaping the masterplan for a new overseas port.
What We’re Looking For
- Chartered or nearly chartered Civil/Structural Engineer with a relevant master’s degree.
- Strong project management and client-facing skills.
- A team player who enjoys mentoring others.
- A proactive problem-solver with a flair for innovative thinking.
- Excellent communication skills in written and spoken English.
What You’ll Get
We want our people to thrive – so we offer a supportive, sociable workplace with genuine career progression and a package that reflects your skills:
- Company pension
- Salary Sacrifice Schemes
- Cycle to Work scheme & Rail Ticket Loan
- Modern, air-conditioned offices
- Unlimited refreshments, free fruit & snack bar
- Staff social committee, monthly activities & summer BBQ
- Access to private park and tennis courts (London)
