Why This Role?
Looking to launch your engineering career with projects that actually make a difference? At Beckett Rankine, we don’t just design infrastructure – we shape waterfronts, protect coastlines, and build the ports and harbours that connect communities around the world. This is your chance to join the UK’s leading specialist maritime civil engineering practice, where you’ll work on everything from international port developments to revamping iconic Thames piers. No two projects are the same, and your ideas will count from day one.
The Work You’ll Do
- Contribute to the design and delivery of major infrastructure projects.
- Get hands-on experience across the full project life cycle – from concept to construction.
- Work directly with project managers, clients, and other professionals.
- Gain exposure to site work, inspections, and real-world problem solving.
- Embed sustainability and innovation into your designs.
- Support and mentor peers, while learning from senior engineers who are leaders in their field.
One week you might be helping plan a new port overseas, the next you could be on-site assessing flood defences – variety is guaranteed.
What We’re Looking For
- A strong Bachelor’s or Master’s in Civil/Structural Engineering (or related subject).
- Some experience in infrastructure or structural design (maritime a plus, but not essential).
- A natural problem-solver and lateral thinker.
- Organised, proactive, and ready to get stuck in.
- Great communicator – you’ll work with clients, teammates, and communities.
What You’ll Get
We believe in supporting your career and making work enjoyable. Here’s what you can expect:
- Flexible working & WFH options
- Minimum of 3 days external training per year (plus mentoring & career support)
- Cycle to Work scheme & Rail Ticket Loan
- Company pension
- Modern, air-conditioned offices
- Unlimited refreshments, free fruit & snack bar
- Monthly socials, summer BBQ & active social committee
- Employee engagement forum – your voice matters
We’re a specialist team, not a corporate machine. That means you’ll be given real responsibility early, learn directly from senior engineers, and be part of a company that values innovation, sustainability, and fresh ideas.
