Job Description

Job Summary – Production Manager

This role is dedicated to the overall management of production & production resources. You will review, organise and develop systems and processes in order to achieve:

Plan, organize and manage the Liverpool manufacturing activities across 3 shifts 24 hours a day

  • Effective planning and co-ordination of activities within the area
  • Define and provide Key Performance Indicators (KPI's), analyse deviations from schedule, communicate and implement corrective and/or preventive action plans.
  • Effective supervisory control of all area activities and a process in which each shift has a detailed handshake of priorities and performance
  • Understand and communicate deviations from the plan for the area for the day
  • Effective management of a small team of area staff
  • Develop talent to ensure that the future management capabilities are defined over time.
  • Effective planning and co-ordination with support functions
  • Understand and positively influence impact on internal customers of the department / area
  • Integrate 5S as a best practice embedded within the whole team
  • Manage continuous improvement to ensure efficiency, quality and optimisation of delivery and value add to our customers
  • Liaise with stakeholders from other departments and create a relationship that fully supports aligned agreements and best practices

To support the area managers in relation to management of the department and activities, and coordinate procedures and work practices & quality standards.

Support Improvement activities in own area and other parts of the business.

Communicate effectively to other departments to ensure that Beckers meet customer requirements.

  • Apply and encourage good working practices around chemical handling in accordance with COSHH regulations and training.
  • Ensure compliance with the company's accident prevention policy, reporting incidents and near misses when observed, undertaking preventative actions wherever possible.
  • Ownership of unsafe conditions within the area and actions to correct
  • Thorough record keeping ensuring full traceability of all operations.
  • Ensure regular safety inspections of machinery and equipment present at site are undertaken and records are kept up to date.
  • Arrange and assist in maintenance and calibration of machinery and equipment.
  • Ensure lock out / tag is used
  • Ensure necessary clean down of workspace and equipment to prevent contamination

  • To manage local KPI's analyse and establish improvement actions in line with business targets
  • On a day to day basis plan, co-ordinate area plans in order to deliver product to appropriate time, quality and costs
  • First line Management and ownership of area activities and metrics to meet targets expectations internally and externally
  • Communication
  • Provide constructive feedback to colleagues to support their personal development
  • Establish clear expectations regarding responsibilities, behaviours, and daily activities.
  • Ensure visual management is kept up to date
  • Provide accurate and timely communication to all stakeholders when necessary including pre-shift meetings, Team Briefs, and end of shift handovers
  • Provide continuous feedback to direct reports

  • Increase operational effectiveness by supervising direct reports
  • Work with direct reports to improve overall service whilst driving efficiencies through process improvement and adopting best practices Provide training and development opportunities for team members and ensure a safe work environment consistent with company values.
  • Responsibility to motivate staff to help when there are additional pressures
  • Actively contribute to the development and maintenance of an enthusiastic, supportive and collaborative environment within the team setting
  • To undertake any other duties as requested by line manager in accordance with company requirements
