Mechanical Apprentice position on a United Kingdom (UK) nuclear infrastructure programme. This multi-year contract involves Bechtel providing Project Management and Engineering services for preliminary design work within the Future Materials Campus. The project is at the conceptual design phase and involves a multi-billion-pound investment in nuclear and non-nuclear facilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborative Trainees work under the supervision of vertical leaders and team leads for day-to-day activities, including learning systems and procedures used by the verticals.
- Assist in preparing weekly/monthly reports and activities, including developing and utilizing databases and other reports.
- Shadow and learn from experienced professionals; assist with day-to-day tasks and projects.
- Participate in training sessions and workshops to enhance skills.
- Conduct research and analysis as required; contribute innovative ideas and solutions to ongoing projects.
- Support the discipline mechanical engineers with planning, design, execution, and closeout of mechanical activities; help ensure quality and timeliness of technical information.
- Support the wider design team and use engineering judgment to solve problems, either independently or within a small team.
Education and Experience
- Ideally educated to A Level standard, or equivalent, meeting degree entry requirements.
Skills and Qualifications
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office.
- General understanding of mechanical design processes and deliverables.
- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Relevant industry experience.
- Must be able to obtain SC Clearance for access to the AWE Site.
Other
- The role will be based primarily at Aldermaston, UK. Travel to Bechtel’s London office (near Covent Garden) may also be required.
- Flexibility in work locations includes three days per week on site and two days working from home or the Bechtel office. The arrangement may change as project needs adjust.
- This position is open to United Kingdom (UK) Nationals only.
