The project scope includes planning, design, integration and delivery of major airfield infrastructure, buildings, systems and associated periphery infrastructure.

Job Summary: The Project Engineer will support the management and coordination of engineering design and technical delivery for civil infrastructure packages within the programme. Working closely with the Project Manager, Design Manager, and Construction teams, the Project Engineer will manage design consultants, coordinate engineering interfaces, and ensure that engineering solutions meet safety, quality, cost, and schedule objectives. The role will also support the integration of engineering design with construction delivery and operational requirements in a complex airport environment.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Support the management and coordination of engineering design activities for civil infrastructure packages across the programme.
  • Assist in defining project scope and technical requirements to support project development and business case objectives.
  • Coordinate and manage external design consultants to ensure design deliverables meet project requirements for scope, quality, cost, and schedule.
  • Support the development of design briefs, technical specifications, and scope documentation for engineering packages.
  • Work with engineering specialists and technical authorities to identify safe, cost-effective, and constructible design solutions.
  • Ensure design outputs comply with applicable engineering standards, airport operational requirements, and regulatory obligations.
  • Monitor design progress against programme schedules and coordinate design interfaces across multiple disciplines.
  • Support the management of design reviews and the resolution of technical issues throughout the design development process.
  • Provide technical support during construction to ensure works are implemented in accordance with approved engineering designs.
  • Coordinate design changes during construction and ensure appropriate technical review and approval processes are followed.
  • Support the definition and management of asset information requirements to ensure accurate project documentation and handover deliverables.
  • Assist with the technical evaluation of contractors, consultants, and suppliers during procurement processes.
  • Support commissioning and handover activities, including review of as-built information and verification of asset data.
  • Ensure compliance with legal, regulatory, and engineering standards applicable to infrastructure delivery.
  • Promote Bechtel’s Zero Accident Philosophy and support the integration of health, safety, and environmental considerations into engineering activities.

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting engineering design or design management on civil infrastructure projects.
  • Strong understanding of construction techniques, constructability considerations, and quality assurance processes.
  • Experience coordinating engineering interfaces and working with multidisciplinary project teams.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documentation.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and coordination skills.

Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • Chartered Engineer (CEng) status or working toward professional accreditation.
  • Experience working on aviation, transportation, or large-scale infrastructure programmes.
  • Experience managing multiple interfacing design packages within complex delivery environments.
  • Knowledge of NEC forms of contract and engineering change management processes.
  • Experience supporting engineering delivery within live operational facilities.
  • Familiarity with digital engineering tools and project management systems.
