The project scope includes planning, design, integration and delivery of major airfield infrastructure, buildings, systems and associated periphery infrastructure.

Job Summary

In this role, you will provide project field engineering specialization and expertise with work planning and packaging, material management, quantity verification and validation, safety and quality control, technical inspection and testing knowledge, and subcontract coordination. Your recommendations will ensure field engineering activities operate safely, are complete, and conform to quality standards and project requirements.

Major Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the project team through design, procurement, construction, delivery and handover
  • Foster a culture of world-class health, safety and environmental performance
  • Identify and mitigate risks impacting project delivery and airport operations
  • Deliver projects to agreed cost, schedule and quality requirements
  • Lead Airport Operational Readiness planning and handover activities
  • Develop, motivate and mentor the project team
  • Ensure compliance with statutory, regulatory and planning requirements
  • Manage and influence internal and external stakeholders
  • Lead lessons learned and continuous improvement activities

Education and Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field and relevant work experience
  • Typically 5+ years’ experience managing civil engineering projects valued in excess of £10m
  • Experience managing suppliers and multi-disciplinary teams
  • Strong commercial and financial awareness
  • Knowledge of NEC contracts desirable

Required Knowledge and Skills

  • Experience on UK airport infrastructure projects or with Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) requirements
  • Experience in live operational environments and airport projects desirable
  • Experience with digital design tools, construction management systems, and 3D design coordination.
  • Qualifications – practitioner level in project management (e.g. APMP Project Management Qualification or PRINCE2 Practitioner)
