This position is for a Mechanical Apprentice who will work a multi‑year contract on a United Kingdom (UK) nuclear infrastructure programme for which Bechtel is providing the Project Management and Engineering services. The project is at the conceptual design phases driving a multi‑billion‑pound investment in nuclear and non‑nuclear facilities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support Mechanical Engineers and the wider design team in planning, design, execution, and close‑out of mechanical activities.
- Assist in detailed design engineering efforts, including production of technical documents, execution of engineering schedule activities, quality checks, and overall project delivery.
- Prepare weekly/monthly reports and activities, develop and utilize databases, and support reporting processes.
- Shadow experienced professionals, participate in training sessions and workshops, and contribute innovative ideas to ongoing projects.
- Conduct research and analysis as required.
Education and Experience:
- Educated to A Level standard or equivalent, meeting degree entry requirements.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office.
- General understanding of mechanical design processes and deliverables.
- Strong critical thinking, problem‑solving, and organisational skills.
- Relevant industry experience.
- Must be able to obtain and retain SC Clearance for access to AWE site.
Other:
- The role will be based primarily at Aldermaston, UK, with occasional travel to Bechtel’s London office.
- Work arrangement includes three days per week on site and two days working from home or the Bechtel office.
- The position is open to United Kingdom nationals only and subject to a successful interview and agreement on terms and conditions of employment.
