The project scope includes planning, design, integration and delivery of major airfield infrastructure, buildings, systems and associated periphery infrastructure.
Job Summary: The Lead Civil / Structural Engineer will provide technical leadership across all civil and structural engineering scope areas. You will guide design development, ensure engineering quality and compliance, coordinate with multidisciplinary teams, and support integration with airport operations and adjacent infrastructure. This role is critical to ensuring safe, efficient, and technically robust solutions throughout the project lifecycle.
This position is designated as part-time telework per our global telework policy and may require at least three days of in-person attendance per week at the assigned office or project. Weekly in-person schedules will be determined by the individual and their supervisor, in consultation with functional or project leadership.
Major Responsibilities:- Lead the civil and structural engineering design across airfield, landside, and building infrastructure.
- Manage the development, review, and approve design deliverables, specifications, calculations, and technical documents.
- Ensure all civil/structural works meet project requirements, industry standards, and regulatory obligations.
- Coordinate with architecture, MEP, geotechnical, systems, and construction teams to ensure design integration.
- Provide technical guidance on ground conditions, foundations, pavements, structural systems, and materials selection.
- Support constructability reviews, value engineering, and optimisation of design solutions.
- Work closely with project managers and engineering leads to define scope, design interfaces, and key technical milestones.
- Oversee design progress, quality, and change management within the civil/structural discipline.
- Engage with airport operations, third-party stakeholders, and statutory authorities to ensure approvals and compliance.
- Support site queries, technical assessments, and resolution of construction-stage issues.
- Contribute to risk identification and mitigation relating to civil and structural design.
- Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
- Proven experience leading civil and/or structural engineering on large, multi-disciplinary infrastructure projects.
- Strong understanding of design codes, engineering standards, and compliance requirements for aviation or transport projects.
- Demonstrated ability to manage design teams and coordinate with multiple stakeholders.
- Excellent technical communication and problem-solving skills.
- Chartered Engineer (CEng) or equivalent professional accreditation.
- Experience in major UK airport or transport infrastructure projects, particularly within live operational environments.
- Knowledge of Airport operations, governance processes, and stakeholder landscape.
