Job Summary:
In this role, you will plan and conduct systems engineering work, and will review and prepare information on requirements management, verification and validation, functional analysis, and other key documents. You will prepare estimates, work plans, and assist with performance reporting. Your technical expertise and coordination will ensure outcomes meet client and project requirements.
This position is designated as part-time telework per our global telework policy and may require at least three days of in-person attendance per week at the assigned office or project. Weekly in-person schedules will be determined by the individual and their supervisor, in consultation with functional or project leadership.
Major Responsibilities:
- Plans and conducts independent Systems Engineering work requiring judgment in the evaluation, selection, application and adaptation of Systems techniques, procedures and criteria on a medium size project or assignment in support of a global business unit.
- Reviews and prepares Systems Engineering documents relating to requirements management, verification and validation, functional analysis, technical trade studies, interface management, reliability, availability, maintainability, systems integration, and configuration management.
- Coordinates and interfaces as directed with the day-to-day technical work of personnel.
- Coordinates and facilitates technical discussions on systems designs and recommends solutions to upper management.
- Prepares or oversees the preparation of discipline estimates and work plan in accordance with project scope, schedule, and budget, and supports implementation and assists with performance reporting.
- Interprets new or special regulations, codes, standards, criteria, and performance data.
- Coordinates with client representatives, as directed, to obtain their approval of Systems aspects of the work.
- Conducts or leads special studies of new Systems Engineering methods, tools and techniques.
- Mentors Systems Engineering personnel by providing on-the-job training for their professional development.
- Provides input to and participates in special technical educational and training programs as directed.
Education and Experience Requirements:
Requires a bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and relevant work experience.
Required Knowledge and Skills:
- Thorough understanding and proven experience in the application of systems engineering principles.
- Familiarity with codes and standards related to systems engineering eg IEEE 1220-2005, ISO/IEC 15288.
- Knowledge and experience with airport systems including active data and voice networking, data centers, access control, surveillance and intrusion detection, passenger processing and resource allocation, dynamic wayfinding, aircraft auto-docking, foreign object debris detection, non-NAVAID airfield sensor systems, licensed and unlicensed wireless, baggage handling systems, passenger boarding bridges, flight information display systems, automated people mover systems, vertical & horizontal transportation systems, MEP systems, Fire & Life Safety systems and BMS & SCADA systems.
- An understanding of current innovations in airport systems, including applications of AI, is highly desirable.
- Understanding of airline industry and international regulatory codes, standards and design criteria relating to airport design.
- Experience with integration of systems into airport command and control structures.
- Knowledge of interface management and the management of system to civil and system to system interfaces.
