Project Overview:
The Project is the expansion of an existing process facility located on a Nuclear site in Capenhurst, Cheshire (UK). The facility is being expanded in response to changing market dynamics and will provide a major component of the UK’s energy security strategy. The Project scope includes overseeing the delivery of FEED, co-ordinating the delivery of design deliverables to facilitate construction contract award and the implementation of enabling works. Subject to successful completion of FEED, there is the potential for a follow-on EPCM contract to be awarded for the main works contract.
Location:
The role will primarily be based at the project site (Capenhurst), however travel to the project office (Warrington) may also be required. Flexibility in work location currently includes a minimum of three days per week in-person attendance at project premises. The role will require full-time in-person attendance on project premises upon the commencement of enabling works site activity. Candidates will have or must be able to obtain an SC security clearance.
Job Summary:
In this role you will monitor and organise contractor planning, safety and technical activities on a construction project, also involving communication and interface management with stakeholders. The role will assist in ensuring that enabling works operations are safely executed, planned and co-ordinated with the delivery of the overall project schedule.
Major Responsibilities:
- Supporting the Site Manager in the management of the services.
- Planning:
- Review construction schedules and performance including reporting progress.
- Participating with contractors and stakeholders to plan construction schedules.
- Reviewing contractor construction methods, resources, material and equipment requirements.
- Supporting progress and risk reduction meetings.
- Record resources and monitor outputs against programme.
- Keep a full and accurate daily site diary.
- A responsible attitude towards safety and security.
- Ensuring a zero accident philosophy is implemented and adhered to by contractors, site personnel and visitors.
- Monitors installation of materials and equipment to ensure conformance with safe systems of work, risk assessments, and method statements.
- Reviewing Contractor prepared RAMS.
- Ensuring work methods are planned and executed safely.
- Co-ordinating engineering solutions with Contractors.
- Co-ordination with Design Consultants on constructability issues.
- Liaising with Field Engineering and Contractors to interpret Engineering and Technical requirements.
- Communication with Project Controls and Contract Administration to effectively manage change to the Contractor’s scope, price and schedule.
- Understand common Temporary Works and their role, including the use of Temporary Works Co-ordinators (TWC) and Supervisors (TWS).
- Review and ensure compliance to the project specifications through Inspection and Test Plans (ITP).
- Monitor subcontractor performance and ensure quality assurance standards are met.
- Familiar with industry standards and external sources of information (e.g., BS5795, CIRIA C530).
- Raise Non-Conformance Reports where appropriate.
Education and Experience Requirements:
Requires a bachelor’s degree (or international equivalent) in a construction or engineering based discipline and 5-8 years of relevant experience, or 9-12 years of relevant work experience. Nuclear or energy sector experience would be of particular interest, though not essential. Evidence of CDM training, accountability and implementation. Strong understanding of civil and structural engineering principles, construction methods, and materials. You should possess good stakeholder communication, organisation and problem-solving skills. Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specification. Have, or ability to obtain a manager’s level CSCS Card and SMSTS qualification. Experience of NEC form of Contract.

You will be expected to demonstrate experience of supporting a collaborative working environment through positive and transparent behaviours.
