Due to growth in our business, an opportunity has become available within the Bechtel Infrastructure team in London for a Senior Legal Counsel. The role reports to the Head of Legal for Bechtel's Infrastructure Global Business Unit, based in London. The role will be supporting the Public Infrastructure, Renewables and Clean Power and Heavy Civil business. This is a unique development opportunity to join one of the world's leading construction and engineering organizations and shape a senior in-house career in the construction sector.
This position is designated as part-time telework per our global telework policy and may require at least three days of in-person attendance per week at the assigned office or project. Weekly in-person schedules will be determined by the individual and their supervisor, in consultation with functional or project leadership.
Major Responsibilities
- Provide leadership on legal and commercial issues relating to prospects and projects for the Infrastructure Global Business Unit.
- Work closely with GBU Business Development and Management in structuring, preparing, negotiating, and concluding transactions for prospects and projects.
- Advise and support GBU Management and project personnel on legal issues during the execution of projects.
- Advise GBU Business Development and Management on the company's internal protocols and procedures to ensure that compliance is maintained.
- The Senior Legal Counsel will work on transactions independently with GBU Business Development and Management.
The legal work associated with the position is typically complex and difficult – the issues to be addressed are often unique and require a high order of original and creative legal analysis for their resolution.
Education And Experience Requirements
- Must hold a current legal practicing certificate in England and Wales.
- Must be prepared to travel on an 'as needed' basis.
- A minimum of 8 years post-qualification work experience with engineering and construction projects and related contract documents will be required – from a major law firm and/or major engineering, procurement, and construction firm.
