Major Responsibilities
The Airfield & Roads Construction Engineer (Heathrow West) supports the development of construction planning for all airfield and Strategic Road Network related infrastructure for the proposed new 3rd runway at Heathrow Airport.
The role involves the supporting the Airfield and External Works Construction Manager’s in the planning, coordination and preparation of key documentation to support the DCO planning process.
The scope of works will focus on airfield and highway related enabling works including the construction of a realigned strategic roads and motorway junction associated with the new terminal and airfield construction.
Responsibilities include:-
- Input into constructability reviews to optimise construction sequencing, logistics, and methodology.
- Coordinate with engineering and design consultants to ensure construction requirements are reflected in design deliverables.
- Support the development of site layouts, temporary works strategies, logistics and phasing plans for construction in a live operational environment.
- Assist in developing overall construction execution plans, staffing strategies, and resource estimates.
- Ensure health, safety, and environmental (HSE) considerations are embedded in all aspects of design and planning.
- Draft key construction methodologies to support the planning process
- Maintain awareness of design evolution, scope changes, and their potential impacts on construction methods, costs, and schedules.
- Contribute to cost estimates, budgets, risk assessments, and progress reporting for construction scope.
- Coordinates with design on constructability issues
- Ensures the Zero Accident Philosophy is incorporated into all aspects of construction operations.
- Lead any assigned construction management resource, support the development of any such assigned resource; maintain standards, manage, motivate, coach and mentor as required.
Education and Experience Requirements
- Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related discipline and / or ideally you will have around to 10 years of relevant work experience all applications will be considered
- Knowledge of construction methods, procedures, and sequencing for civil and airfield works.
- Experience of working on major road schemes or airfield projects.
