The project scope includes planning, design, integration and delivery of major airfield infrastructure, buildings, systems and associated periphery infrastructure.
Job Summary:
In this role, you will conduct field investigations and client interviews to determine work scope and cost estimates for a project's civil/structural aspects. You will lead design, development, modification, evaluation, and constructability reviews of civil/structural components and processes. Your technical expertise will ensure the unique and complex requirements of a project's civil/structural aspects are met.
Major Responsibilities:
- Deliver design management on projects, ensuring environmental risks and requirements are effectively managed across archaeology, landscape, ecology, water, soil, materials, waste and resources.
- β’ Develop project scope that meets business needs and supports the business case.
- β’ Prepare design briefs for external consultants and manage design contracts through the design process.
- β’ Develop safe, cost-effective design solutions that meet environmental requirements and align with GAL Engineering Standards or agreed concessions.
- Define asset information requirements for design and construction contracts.
- Develop sustainable design solutions that reduce construction carbon through energy efficiency, material selection, waste reduction and transport optimisation.
- Coordinate design changes during construction and handover.
- Assess environmental impacts on programme, cost and efficiencies.
- Support Principal Designer duties with the CDM Advisor.
- Support contractor and consultant technical evaluations.
- Manage site environmental constraints and quality requirements.
- Review as-built information for commissioning and handover.
- Ensure legal, statutory and standards compliance.
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Degree or equivalent in civil, environmental engineering or environmental management.
- Chartered membership of an engineering or environmental institution desirable.
- UK design/design management experience on environmental projects.
- Experience managing concurrent design projects desirable.
Required Knowledge and Skills:
β’ UK environmental legislation, consents and regulator engagement.
β’ Project close-out and handover management.
β’ Construction health, safety and environmental awareness.
β’ Practical problem-solving skills.
β’ Construction techniques and constructability.
β’ Quality management monitoring.
β’ MS Office and Project proficiency.
β’ NEC contracts, PMIs and claims experience desirable.
