Job Summary: In this role, you will lead a team and supervise superintendents and/or craft professionals on a project. You will direct craft professional activities and work schedules, and coordinate subcontract work activities and team development. Your oversight will ensure craft professionals have the tools required to be productive, comply with project policies, procedures, and job site work rules and procedures, and perform within specifications, schedules and budgets.
Major Responsibilities: As the Senior Project Manager, you will be responsible for the technical, commercial and financial management of the project(s) to deliver to the project and overall business objectives. You’ll lead with precision, creativity, and a commitment to safety and sustainability. - Lead and manage the project team in the design, procurement, construction, delivery, and handover of the project to achieve desired business outcomes.
- Lead the development and maintenance of a culture of world class health, safety, and environmental standards across the project and its associated contractors to deliver the highest levels of health, safety and environmental performance achievable.
- Lead the identification and mitigation of risks that may adversely impact project delivery or adversely affect airport operations through the project/programme lifecycle.
- Deliver the assigned project(s) to defined cost, schedule, and quality requirements, leading the successful handover of assigned projects to the Operations and/or Commercial Departments including ensuring all requisite Airport Operational Readiness planning and activities are in place.
- Lead the development of the project team; set standards, manage, motivate, coach and mentor staff within the team. Recognise talent and assist in the development of those with high potential.
- Ensure compliance with all legal and statutory obligations applicable to this role, including all standards and code compliance, and required planning permissions.
- Manage and positively influence key stakeholders (both internal & external) associated with the individual project(s).
- Lead the Lessons Identified process across all projects and embed a culture of continuous Improvement.
Education and Experience Requirements: Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field and relevant work experience. Proven experience managing projects in live operational environments. Strong knowledge of applicable aviation design standards and safety regulations. Ability to manage multidisciplinary teams and coordinate across multiple stakeholders. Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills. Knowledge and understanding of contract administration and negotiations. Experience (typically associated with five years’ experience) as a senior project manager/project manager on large, multi-year projects with a value typically in excess of £50m in a relevant industry including the management of external supplier.
Required Knowledge and Skills: Previous Bechtel experience. Experience on UK airport infrastructure projects or with Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) requirements. Experience with digital design tools, construction management systems, and 3D design coordination. Experience in leading a team of 10 people. Experience leading infrastructure projects in live operational environments. Strong leadership, influencing, problem solving and communication skills. Sound commercial and financial awareness. Knowledge and understanding of NEC suite of Contracts. Qualifications – practitioner level in project management (e.g. APMP Project Management Qualification or PRINCE2 Practitioner).
