- Project Overview
The project is the expansion of an existing process facility on a Nuclear site in Capenhurst, Cheshire.
The scope includes delivering FEED, coordinating design deliverables to facilitate construction contract award, and implementing enabling works.
Successful completion of FEED may lead to a follow‑on EPCM contract for the main works.
Security clearance : Candidates must have, or be able to obtain, a Security Clearance (SC) clearance.
Job Summary
This role provides technical supervision to ensure enabling works operations are safely executed, installed per design requirements, and coordinated with the overall project schedule.
The position reports to the Field Engineering Manager.
While primarily based at the project site, the role may require travel to the Warrington office and full‑time in‑person attendance during enabling works.
It is a part‑time telework position, requiring at least three days of in‑person attendance per week at the assigned office or project site, with weekly schedules determined in consultation with the supervisor and project leadership.
- Major Responsibilities
- Technical
- Monitor installation of materials and equipment to ensure conformance with drawings, specifications, vendor and other technical documents.
- Inspect and record installed components for technical acceptance.
- Review project design and engineering documents to ensure completeness and readiness for safe construction.
- Support reviews of contractor submittals, including technical queries, information requests, as‑built records, inspections and test plans, material assurance requisitions, and non‑conformance reports.
- Provide engineering assistance to Field Supervision and other project personnel.
- Facilitate engineering solutions with the contractor.
- Develop daily reports of sub‑contractor progress and performance.
- Communicate with project controls and contract administration to manage changes to scope, price, and schedule.
- Track contractor installation progress and provide input to schedules and cost reports.
- Health, Safety & Environmental Compliance
- Maintain a responsible attitude toward safety and security.
- Implement and enforce a zero‑accident philosophy for contractors, site personnel, and visitors.
- Promote a positive safety culture on site.
- Support site inspections, toolbox talks, and ensure RAMS are fully implemented.
- Quality Assurance
- Maintain high quality standards through effective site inspections and quality control processes.
- Verify material quality and workmanship to meet quality requirements based on codes, specifications, and design.
- Raise non‑conformance reports where appropriate.
- Use the most current design documents and ensure all design changes are approved prior to implementation.
- Support the closed‑loop corrective action program (CLCA).
Education & Experience Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree (or international equivalent) in Civil Engineering or a related field.
- 8–10 years of relevant experience in civil engineering or similar.
- Experience in the nuclear or energy sector is desirable, though not essential.
- Evidence of CDM training and implementation.
- Experience with NEC form of Contract.
- Strong understanding of civil and structural engineering principles, construction methods, and materials.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
- Good stakeholder communication, organization, and problem‑solving skills.

- Demonstrated experience supporting a collaborative working environment through positive and transparent behaviors.
