Purpose of Role: To weld together components of products as specified by layout, drawings, diagrams, work orders, weld procedures or oral instructions.
Key Objectives of the Role:
- Steel Welder
- Coded Welder in TIG and MAG Solidwire
- Ability to produce multi-layer fillet welds and single side full penetration V butt welds to NDT acceptance criteria is essential
- Welding production control to BS EN ISO1090-2 Structural steel
- Understanding of welding symbols
- Following welding procedures and instructions
Full time position. Applicants will be required to complete a relevant fabrication activity at interview, such as:
- Notch a beam and add plates
- Cut a hatch into a piece of tube
- Marking out on tube and plate
Drug and Alcohol policy including testing.
Company Overview: My client is one of the UK’s leading suppliers of specialist steel support structures, primarily to the Oil & Gas, Rail, Infrastructure, Nuclear, Mobile Telecommunications, Offshore-Wind and Onshore-Wind sectors. The business operates in-house Design, Manufacture and Deployment functions from several sites located in Widnes and has a turnover of £30m and employs 160 personnel.
Welder Proficiency Pay scheme: Offering the ability to increase hourly rate by up to £1.50 per hour.
Working Hours: 8 hour shift Flat hours Monday to Thursday 8.00am to 4.30pm, Friday 8.00am to 2.30pm, 38 hour week. Overtime, currently 10 hours PW and increasing.
