This role is ideal for an applied physicist with hands-on experience and a passion for designing and analyzing experiments. As a Trials Scientist, you will lead multi-disciplinary teams through the lifecycle of research trials, ensuring their safe and effective delivery to meet customer demands.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver research trials and experiments of varying complexities to further understand systems, subsystems, components, and materials subject to extreme dynamic conditions.
  • Design and analyze experiments using explosives in unique facilities and capabilities on and off site, deploying various diagnostic techniques.
  • Lead teams in the analysis and assessment of data, as well as assist with fielding activities.
Requirements

Essential Skills and Qualifications: A strong degree in Physics or a related subject with a focus on applied science is required. Postgraduate degrees such as MPhys, MSc, MEng, and PhD are welcome. The successful candidate should also have a willingness to travel occasionally, both overseas and in the UK.

Desirable Skills and Qualifications (for Senior Role): Experience in dynamic experiment design and fielding, ideally working with explosive or hydrodynamic diagnostic technologies, data analysis, and assessment is preferred. Knowledge of underpinning science related to dynamic material properties, explosives, and warhead physics is also desired. Experience leading or collaborating with multi-discipline teams, safety management systems, project processes in a highly regulated environment, and effectively communicating and engaging with diverse stakeholders are valuable assets.
