Join Beazley as an Underwriter in our Marine Hull and War team! This is an outstanding opportunity to become a key player in our Hull and War Team, where you will apply your expertise to provide innovative underwriting solutions. Your role will be pivotal in improving our market reputation and delivering outstanding service to our clients.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and underwrite a profitable portfolio of Hull and War business within the Hull and War group.
Structure solutions by considering team underwriting parameters and policies.
Use underwriting knowledge and experience to win new business and retain existing clients.
Monitor premiums, costs, and claims ratios per contract, taking corrective measures if necessary to ensure long‐term profitability at the account level.
Evaluate risk premiums by considering risk costs, reinsurance cessions, capital exposure, and general administration costs, using applicable rating models.
Coordinate peer underwriters\’ activities to ensure profitability and efficient, cost‐effective administration of the Hull and War account.
Supervise assistants to ensure compliance with underwriting philosophy and policy, maintaining consistency within the team.
Adhere to Beazley\’s underwriting control standards for business written through Lloyd\’s or Beazley\’s internal MGAs.
Champion a collaborative relationship with the claims managers on this class of business.
Produce business plans and research documents for the M&A account as needed.
About you:Essential Criteria
Minimum graduate‐level education
Proven experience underwriting marine insurance
Desirable Criteria
Accurate and numerate.
Proficient with MS Office, advanced Excel skills.
Strong analytical skills with keen attention to detail.
Effective communicator, both verbally and in writing.
Excellent time management skills, capable of prioritising tasks.
General commercial and financial knowledge.
