Summary: Hiring for a Delegated Underwriter Manager to work as part of the UW team. The person will work closely with Underwriters, Product Leaders and Focus Group Leader to maintain effective running of the existing and newly onboarded business, facilitating business development and growth. This role is new to the team and will develop both based on the team need and the successful applicant’s skills. Possible expansion to the role includes increasing underwriting, strategy development & execution and management support responsibilities.

Main duties:

  • Management of upcoming renewal schedule
  • Early identification of renewal issues which will require escalation to Strategic Underwriting Manager.
  • Develop tools for monitoring premium earning profiles and flagging of monthly premium entry delays
  • Manage bordereaux delivery and accuracy
  • Credit control and premium income troubleshooting, providing regular updates to controlling Underwriters
  • Monthly reporting of issues relating to book Income with Focus Group Leader
  • Ad hoc reporting as required by Focus Group Leader for business planning – in particular related to Estimated Premium Income variances, book composition and resourcing needs.

Due Diligence:

  • Working with Underwriting Assistants to collect and verify renewal due diligence information and make sure the information is actioned and filed appropriately.
  • Overseeing Weekly Delegated Assurance & Stakeholder meetings to make sure problems are managed quickly and effectively.
  • Oversight of Audit Action points, working with Underwriting Assistants and Underwriters to resolve quickly and efficiently.
  • Core role in Tribunalisation due diligence process and oversight.

External:

  • Attend renewal meetings with Coverholders where appropriate
  • Attend new business opportunity meetings to assist in assessment of viability with UWs
  • Build core relationships with UWs, UAs, DA and other internal stakeholders, as well as the coverholders themselves.
  • Opportunity to assist and travel with UWs for larger client visits/Audits

Other:

  • Leverage networking opportunities within the business to develop standardised underwriting policy frameworks and best practice within Beazley.
  • Develop best practices around our operational needs within the US Specialty Programs Team.
  • Work with peers within Speciality Risks to maximise business opportunities and profitability within the department. This will include but not be limited to sharing market information, marketing sources and cross selling opportunities.
  • Share and gather knowledge within the Beazley Group to ensure dissemination of best practice and maximise business opportunities and profitability across the Group.
  • Production of presentations and marketing literature as required.
  • Production of business plans/research documents for the Specialty Treaty account as required.

  • This may include, amongst others, Beazley’s underwriting control standards, Beazley’s claims control standards, other Beazley standards and customer relationship management.
  • Carry out additional responsibilities as individually notified, either through your objectives or through the learning management system. These may include membership of any Beazley committees or working groups.
