Job Summary: Specialist insurance company Beazley is seeking a Senior Business Partner – BFL within its Finance function to work within a small team to service relevant stakeholders and key committees. Reporting to the Lead Business Partner – BFL, this role will be primarily responsible for helping manage relationships with BFL Senior Management and Committee members, bringing a BFL focus to internal analysis, along with owning key Lloyd’s planning deliverables. Although primarily focused on planning activity, the role covers review of actual results against plan and supporting the review of Lloyd’s submissions from the Finance BFL External Reporting team. The core aim of this role is to be a key cog in the Lloyd’s financial planning activity, create better reporting consistency and ultimately minimise external queries. The role holder must be commercially aware and demonstrate the ability to build strong stakeholder relationships.
Key Responsibilities
- Focus on customer service to provide best in class service, amplifying the team’s overall capability and proactively seeking insights from key stakeholders to anticipate changing dynamics.
- Review and enhance the current capability and offering and with the support of Finance Change work towards future state in a core reporting suite.
- Ensure knowledge and skills are passed across the team to ensure output is from a high performing team, including ensuring focus on own personal development requirements.
- Assist in the production, review and submission of Lloyd’s Syndicate Business Forecasts with a view to continual development and improvement of the process.
- Liaise with the Actuarial Capital Planning team to resolve queries with regards to the syndicate business plan.
- Assist in the production, review and submission of GAAP planning data within the quarterly Lloyd’s FLASH report including analytical challenge and liaising with the BFL CFO and key stakeholders on the key messages and drivers.
- Assist in the production, review and submission of the quarterly ultimate year of account forecasts for the 3 open years of accounts by syndicate and underwriting team.
- Preparation of papers for presentation to senior management at various committees.
- Attendance as required at quarterly peer or regulatory reviews for various submissions completed by the Finance BFL External Reporting team. This includes providing certain information in advance.
- Work with the Financial Planning and Underwriting Business Partnering teams to continuously enhance the analytical capabilities and provide timely insight on syndicate financial performance across all planning cycles, driving resolution of queries as required.
- Work with the Underwriting Business Partners as required to assist in responding to syndicate specific queries.
- Support the continued development and improvement of the team’s processes, systems and controls and drive efficiencies on newly implemented systems and tools.
- Embed oneself within wider company activities and support various Finance projects and initiatives.
- Support the Lead Business Partner – BFL on other requirements/projects as required.
Personal Specification
Essential Criteria
- Experienced qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA).
- Experience of the Lloyd’s insurance market with commercial exposure.
- Experience of Lloyd’s market regulatory submissions, including planning data.
- Experience of Workday Financials and Workday Adaptive advantageous, but not essential.
