Division: Finance Operations – Credit Control

It is not a prerequisite to have prior experience in credit control. Those working in alternative areas, especially with a background in insurance, are encouraged to apply. Suitable backgrounds include roles such as Underwriting Technician, Analyst, Bordereaux Technician, Underwriting Operations Analyst, Claims Support Technician, Claims Operations Technician, or similar, which transfer well into this role.

Reports To: Assistant Credit Control Manager

Key Relationships:

  • Internal: Underwriting, Claims, Finance, UK & RoW Operations teams, Digital Operations teams, Digital Services Team, IT, Agresso Support, AR Support team, Broker Relations
  • External: Brokers, 3rd Party service providers, external credit controllers

Job Summary:

  • Ownership of open debt, collections, and cash allocation including:
  • Daily credit control processing
  • Business partnering with operations underwriting and business teams
  • Managing relationships with brokers, underwriters, and the business
  • Daily data validation, reconciliation, and analysis
  • Monthly processing, controls, and reporting
  • Monthly reconciliations and financial accounting
  • Continuous improvement of the credit control function

General Responsibilities:

  • Develop strong relationships with brokers and key stakeholders across the Group
  • Uphold Beazley's culture of professionalism, integrity, effectiveness, and a dynamic attitude, fostering teamwork and a positive external brand image
  • Comply with Beazley's procedures, policies, and regulations relevant to your role, including relevant training
  • Stay updated with developments in underwriting, claims, and customer relationship standards
  • Uphold the principle of Treating Customers Fairly and Conduct
  • Perform additional responsibilities as directed, including participation in various teams or committees
  • Discipline members of staff contravening regulations as per staff handbook

Key Responsibilities:

  • Daily credit control activities including debt collection, cash allocation, and reconciliation
  • Supporting cash collection processes and resolving payment issues
  • Optimizing auto cash allocations and addressing blockers
  • Supporting direct debit collections, rejections, and reconciliation
  • Managing relationships with brokers, underwriters, and internal teams to resolve account queries
  • Providing MI on aged debt and collection patterns
  • System testing and process improvement initiatives
  • Monthly reporting and reconciliation activities
  • Supporting system development and UAT testing

Personal and Professional Qualifications:

  • General accounting knowledge preferred
  • Educated to A level or equivalent
  • CICM/AAT/ACCA/CIMA qualifications advantageous but not essential

Skills and Abilities:

  • Insurance industry experience, especially Lloyd's or general insurance, preferred
  • Knowledge of Xchanging, premiums, and claims processing advantageous
  • Familiarity with relevant accounting principles and systems such as Excel, FIS GetPaid, GoCardless, Agresso, MyBeazley
