Job Summary
To support all portfolio underwriting activities, underwrite allocated renewal accounts across a diversified multi-line portfolio, executing the strategy set by Heads of Portfolio Underwriting to achieve business plan KPI’s.
Develop expert judgement through close collaboration with experienced stakeholders to build out technical expertise on one or more classes of business.
Work closely with brokers to maintain and improve market reputation of the Beazley brand.
Support the provision of management information and financial reporting for BST.
Responsible for training team underwriting assistants and operations personnel as required.
Key Responsibilities
- Underwriting
- Manage the underwriting and post bind account management of allocated accounts, support as second (or third) underwriter on accounts which focus on classes that your objectives state are target development product lines.
- Develop a clear understanding of BST underwriting parameters and underwriting policy, develop underwriting knowledge and experience from more experienced stakeholders.
- Identify new business opportunities aligned with risk appetite and supporting the team as required in assessing these.
- Monitor KPI’s across the portfolio and discuss with stakeholders if potential corrective measures are necessary, to ensure long‑term profitability at an account of class level.
- Comply with Beazley’s underwriting control standards.
- Develop a strong working relationship with the claims team on all classes of business underwritten by Beazley Smart Tracker.
- Maintain a good working relationship with facility brokers and external clients.
- General
- Responsible for training future Underwriting Assistants and operations personnel as required to maintain business continuity, supporting with these tasks directly as required during peak times or un‑covered absences.
- Support the maintenance of all business process guides.
- Manage and perform ad hoc projects as required, taking responsibility for their delivery.
- Become an expert user of the SMARTIE Analytics Tool and knowledge of other PU Data tools.
Responsibility will include supporting team members using this tool effectively.
Proactively support tool enhancement, identify and understand any data deficiencies.
- Promote active knowledge sharing and strategic alignment with other Beazley underwriting teams.
This will include but not be limited to sharing market information, marketing sources and cross selling opportunities.
- Share and gather knowledge within the Beazley Group to ensure dissemination of best practice and maximise business opportunities and profitability within the Group.
- Production of presentations and marketing literature as required.
- Production of business plans/research documents for the BST account as required.

This may include, amongst others, Beazley is underwriting control standards, and Beazley’s claims control standards, other Beazley standards and customer relationship management.

These may include membership of any Beazley committees or working groups.

- Graduate level / Bachelor’s Degree education preferred
