At BEAUTY BAY, we’re all about sharing our beauty obsession with the world. We source hard-to-find brands and products you can’t find elsewhere, bringing our customers the best, first. Something we couldn’t do without our dynamic, inspiring, diverse and dedicated team.

We’re looking for an experienced Senior Trading Manager to drive the commercial performance of BEAUTY BAY across our UK and international ecommerce business.

Sitting at the heart of our Commercial function, you’ll be responsible for turning our commercial, product and marketing plans into a compelling online trading proposition that delivers against sales, conversion and margin targets.

You’ll have a strong understanding of what makes customers shop and will use data, customer behaviour and market insight to identify opportunities, make decisions at pace and continually improve performance.

This is a hands-on senior role, supported initially by one direct report and working closely with Buying, Merchandising, Marketing, Digital/Product and Finance.

Key Responsibilities

Trading & Commercial Performance

  • Own day-to-day ecommerce trading performance across BEAUTY BAY's UK and international markets, with accountability for delivering agreed sales, conversion and margin targets.
  • Develop and execute the ecommerce trading plan, translating wider commercial objectives into clear weekly and seasonal priorities.
  • Monitor performance against targets, quickly identifying risks and opportunities and implementing appropriate trading actions.
  • Lead regular trading reviews, providing clear insight into performance, actions and opportunities.
  • Work closely with Finance and Merchandising to support forecasting, sales phasing and commercial planning.
  • Maintain a strong understanding of customer behaviour, competitor activity and market trends to identify opportunities to accelerate growth and market share.

Trading Calendar & Onsite Execution

  • Own the ecommerce trading calendar, ensuring key launches, campaigns, promotions, events and seasonal moments are effectively planned and executed onsite.
  • Work closely with Buying, Merchandising and Marketing to ensure the right products, brands and offers are prioritised at the right time.
  • Ensure campaigns, NPD and promotional activity are brought to life effectively across the BEAUTY BAY website and app.
  • React quickly to trading performance, customer demand, stock position, emerging trends and competitor activity, adjusting onsite priorities accordingly.
  • Ensure the onsite proposition remains relevant, inspiring and commercially effective across key markets.

Customer Experience & Optimisation

  • Use customer behaviour, site performance and trading data to identify opportunities to improve conversion and the overall shopping experience.
  • Identify and prioritise improvements across onsite merchandising, product discovery, search, navigation and category journeys.
  • Work with Digital/Product teams to translate commercial and customer opportunities into clear requirements and priorities.
  • Support a test-and-learn approach to ecommerce optimisation, using results and insight to inform future trading activity.
  • Continually review the end-to-end customer journey to identify friction points and commercial opportunities.

Performance & Insight

  • Maintain clear reporting across core ecommerce KPIs including sales, traffic, conversion, average order value and margin.
  • Turn performance data into actionable commercial insight rather than simply reporting results.
  • Understand the key drivers behind performance and communicate these clearly to stakeholders.
  • Use customer, product, channel and market insight to inform trading decisions and future opportunities.

Working Relationships & Collaboration

  • Lead, coach and develop your direct report, setting clear priorities and creating ownership for day-to-day trading activity.
  • Create an agile, commercially focused trading approach where the team can respond quickly to performance and customer demand.
  • Work collaboratively with Buying, Merchandising, Marketing, Digital/Product and Finance to ensure plans are aligned and commercial opportunities are maximised.
  • Build strong relationships with stakeholders, influencing priorities and ensuring ecommerce trading requirements are understood across the business.
  • Champion a customer-first and commercially focused mindset, balancing short-term trading opportunities with longer-term growth.

If you are a commercially minded ecommerce professional who enjoys being close to the numbers, the customer and the day-to-day performance of the business as well as comfortable moving between analysing yesterday's performance, deciding today's trading actions and planning for future opportunities, this role could be right for you.

You will ideally have:

  • Excellent experience in ecommerce trading, digital trading or ecommerce management within a fast-paced B2C retail environment.
  • A proven track record of delivering ecommerce sales and conversion growth.
  • Excellent commercial acumen and confidence working with sales, margin, conversion, traffic and other core ecommerce KPIs.
  • Experience developing and executing ecommerce trading plans and promotional calendars.
  • Hands on experience of onsite merchandising and the digital customer journey.
  • Solis analytical skills with the ability to turn data into clear commercial actions.
  • Experience using customer behaviour and trading insight to identify opportunities and solve problems.
  • Experience trading a UK ecommerce business, with international experience advantageous.
  • The ability to make confident decisions and act quickly in a fast-moving trading environment.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills and experience working cross-functionally with Buying, Merchandising, Marketing, Finance and Digital/Product teams.
  • Previous people-management experience and the ability to coach and develop others.
  • A strong understanding of the ecommerce and retail landscape, with a genuine interest in emerging customer, competitor and digital trends.

Success in this role means BEAUTY BAY is trading effectively every day. You'll ensure we have clear commercial priorities, react quickly to opportunities and risks, execute key launches and campaigns brilliantly and continually improve how customers discover and shop our prod

You will align closely with Digital/Product, Marketing, Buying and Merchandising teams to understand the commercial priorities and work together to deliver them.
