Overview
A fantastic opportunity exists for an experienced Buyer to join our Private Label team. As a supply chain Buyer you will be excited by the opportunity to collaborate with internal departments to align procurement activities with the business goals, sourcing own brand materials and packaging from our Global and UK manufacturers, building a best-in-class supplier portfolio whilst also managing overall procurement costs for the product ranges.
Responsibilities
Key tasks and responsibilities:
- Responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and purchasing materials, and products to meet the business’s operational needs.
- You will ensure products are purchased at the right price and delivered on time
- Negotiate prices, quantities and delivery schedules, and other contract terms with suppliers to secure the best possible cost prices
- Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers to ensure a smooth supply chain.
- Minimise procurement product costs and maximise value for the business, carrying out ongoing cost saving reviews to improve margins.
- Source materials and packaging globally, making recommendations based on capabilities and price.
- Ownership and management of supplier portfolio scouting new suppliers across multi categories.
- Management of material underwrites and stock holdings
- The main point of contact between suppliers and the business, delivering key updates to internal teams for streamlined communication.
- Close collaboration with key stakeholders such as NPD, Merchandising and Logistics to ensure we deliver products on time and to the agreed launch plans
- Clearly understand the Market pricing dynamics
- Own costing margins
- Work across cross functional teams and suppliers
- Staying up to date on market trends competitor activity in the industry
About You
- A strong commercial / buying background with the ability to engage with confidence at all levels and drive sales and profitability
- Previous manufacturing experience in supply chain is essential
- Must be proficient in excel, confident with formulas is a must
- Experience of Own Brand Beauty / Cosmetics Buying in a fast-paced environment.
- Well organised with the ability to act and adapt quickly, managing multiple priorities and meet agreed timelines
- Able to handle a pressurised working environment
- Sound analytical & financial skills
- Excellent communication skills, confident negotiator and able to form strong professional relationships
- You will bring bags of energy, have the ability to influence stakeholders and bring them round to your way of thinking so a win-win can be achieved
