The UK Sales Manager for Liquid Handling Automation will lead the UK Sales Team to achieve and exceed sales targets and increased market share across the UK region for laboratory automation instruments and associated laboratory consumables. The UK Sales Manager will work closely with their UK liquid handling instrumentation sales team to develop and implement KAM plans for selected key accounts across industry segments, including Pharmaceutical, Veterinary, Clinical/Hospital, Academia, CROs, and other industrial laboratories that use robotics and lab automation equipment, ensuring agreed goals are exceeded.

Execute sales and marketing strategies to achieve regional business and financial objectives for the laboratory automation, robotics, and pipette tips product line for the UK.

Responsibilities:
  • Business Management:
    • Executes on the United Kingdom growth plan in line with the UK commercial strategy and overall business objectives.
    • Ensures UK sales targets and business plans are met.
    • Develop and implement KAM plans for selected key accounts, ensuring agreed goals are exceeded.
    • Actively manage OPEX budget to ensure spending is under control.
    • Provides sales pipeline management to ensure development of short as well as mid-term business potential.
    • Monitor UK sales performance and provide regular feedback to the European commercial leadership as well as personnel; provides UK forecast on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis.
    • Resource management and cost control aligned with UK market growth and potential.
    • Interfaces with service and applications teams to ensure appropriate support to sales activities and long-term, sustainable customer satisfaction; takes lead in (de-)escalation management.
  • Market Development:
    • Represents the company within the UK market acting through “Leading by Example”.
    • Networks with key opinion leaders, reference customers, and distributors to drive the business at customer sites, conferences, and exhibitions.
    • Feedback market intelligence, competitive landscape, customer requirements, and trend analysis.
    • Proposes regional marketing activities and justifies them by defining return on investment like seminars, regional trade shows, exhibitions, etc.
  • Leadership and Performance Management:
    • Assumes leadership of the regional sales team and seeks organizational development.
    • Manages staff and provides guidance, training, and tools to enable the team as well as individuals to operate successfully and effectively.
    • Attracts, retains, and develops talents and high potentials; keeps high performers motivated.
    • Takes leadership and managerial tasks in the regional matrix organization.
    • Collaborates with the UK leadership team on UK business operational needs.
Your background:
  • A scientific or commercial degree in a life science or related discipline.
  • At least 10 years previous experience in selling complex laboratory capital equipment and associated laboratory consumables, which require intensive technical understanding, preferably in the field of Multi-omics, Genomics, Cell Biology, Drug Discovery, Cellomics, or Proteomics.
  • Experience in the Automation, Liquid Handling, or Detection markets is an advantage but not essential.
  • Strong leadership and managerial qualities with a large network and high business orientation (broad experience in industry).
  • Demonstrates ability to manage and motivate people, develop the organization by leading staff with confidence, motivation, decisiveness, flexibility, and sound business judgment.
  • Excellent customer-relation and communication skills, and the ability to make timely and effective decisions.
  • Willingness to travel across the UK to perform the duties of the job.
