We are currently seeking a skilled Mobile Plant Fitter to join Panda and support our operations within the waste management sector. As a Mobile Plant Fitter, you will be responsible for the maintenance, servicing and repair of a wide range of mobile and static plant machinery used across a busy waste management site. This includes equipment such as loaders, compactors, conveyors, shredders, balers and picking lines. This role is ideal for someone with strong mechanical knowledge, hands‑on diagnostic skills and experience working with hydraulic systems, electrical looms and heavy plant equipment.

Working Hours: Monday to Friday 6:00am to 6:00pm

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Carry out scheduled and reactive maintenance on a variety of plant equipment, including loaders, compactors, conveyors, shredders, balers and picking lines.
  • Diagnose faults in hydraulic systems and complete timely repairs to minimise downtime.
  • Maintain, install and troubleshoot electrical looms, wiring and connections across plant machinery.
  • Carry out full mechanical and electrical diagnostics to identify faults and complete effective repairs.
  • Keep maintenance records up to date and report on equipment performance, reliability and recurring issues.
  • Work closely with operations and engineering teams to support equipment availability and site performance.
  • Ensure all work is completed in line with health and safety procedures.
  • Report hazards, defects or incidents promptly and support a safe working environment.
  • Support continuous improvement by identifying opportunities to improve equipment reliability and efficiency.

About You:

We are looking for a proactive and experienced Mobile Plant Fitter who can work confidently in a busy operational environment. You will ideally have:

  • Proven experience as a Mobile Plant Fitter, Plant Mechanic, Maintenance Fitter or similar.
  • Experience working within waste management, recycling, construction, heavy industry or a similar environment.
  • Strong knowledge of hydraulic systems, electrical wiring, looms and mechanical components.
  • Good diagnostic and fault‑finding skills across mechanical, hydraulic and electrical systems.
  • The ability to work under pressure and respond quickly to breakdowns.
  • Familiarity with waste processing machinery, conveyor systems, shredders, balers or compactors would be highly desirable.
  • NVQ Level 3 in Plant Maintenance or an equivalent qualification would be preferred.
  • A proactive attitude with a strong commitment to safety, reliability and continuous improvement.
