We are part of the Panda Recycling Group and a leading waste management company in West Yorkshire, providing integrated collection and recycling services to a wide range of businesses and local authorities. We are seeking a skilled Fabricator–Welder to join our Fabrications team in Leeds. The successful candidate will be responsible for repairing, maintaining, and refurbishing waste containers to a high standard, ensuring all work reflects the quality and professionalism expected by our customers.
Fabrication & Welding
- Carry out welding, grinding, cutting, burning, and general fabrication duties as assigned by the Fabrications/Maintenance Manager
- Repair and maintain waste containers, ensuring they are fully functional, safe, and presentable for customer use
- Maintain machinery, tools, and equipment to a high standard, promptly reporting defects
Workplace Operations
- Work collaboratively with the welding/fabrication team and approved third‑party contractors
- Ensure all work areas are free from hazards prior to commencing tasks
- Maintain good housekeeping standards within the fabrication yard at all times
- Support the maintenance workshop with tasks as required
- Clean down your work area at the end of each shift and ensure safe working practices are followed
Documentation & Communication
- Complete and submit relevant documentation such as log sheets, tool checks, inspection reports, and other required paperwork
- Communicate professionally with customers, colleagues, and site personnel while representing the company
Health & Safety Responsibilities
- Comply with all company Health & Safety policies, procedures, and safe systems of work
- Ensure correct use of PPE at all times
- Carry out hot works in accordance with HSE guidelines and company permit‑to‑work procedures
- Immediately report any hazards, unsafe conditions, near misses or incidents to the Fabrications Manager
- Participate in SHEQ workshop tours
Required Qualifications & Experience
Essential
- NVQ Level 2 or Level 3 in Fabrication & Welding (or equivalent)
- Proven experience in MIG welding (additional welding processes beneficial)
- Ability to read and understand technical drawings
- Experience using grinders, cutting equipment, and general fabrication tools
- Good understanding of workshop Health & Safety practices
- Full UK driving licence (if operationally required)
Desirable
- BS EN ISO 9606-1 (Welding Qualification) or equivalent coding/certification
- IPAF or PASMA certification for working at height
- Forklift Truck (FLT) licence (counterbalance or telehandler)
- Experience working in waste, recycling, manufacturing, or heavy‑duty engineering environments
- Hot Works & Fire Safety awareness training
- First Aid at Work certification
