Once/twice a week in West Midlands

I’m working with a growing IT Service provider that delivers network, cloud, infrastructure, and managed services projects for mid market and enterprise firms across the UK. They are looking for a Resource Manager to join their technical delivery function, working closely with Project Managers, Engineering Leads, and reporting into the Technical Director. This role is about making sure engineering resource is planned, capacity is visible both short and medium term, and project work is allocated realistically across the business.

Why they are hiring:

The business is growing and has more technical project work coming through across networks, cloud, and infrastructure. They now need someone who can bring better structure around resource planning, utilisation, forecasting, and delivery visibility, making sure work entering delivery is matched against real engineering capacity. The goal here is to create a real joined up Project delivery/PMO function across engineering, sales, project management and engineering.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Planning and allocating technical resource across live and upcoming projects
  • Managing visibility of engineer utilisation, availability, and capacity
  • Working with Project Managers to understand upcoming project demand
  • Supporting Engineering Leads with resource conflicts and priority changes
  • Forecasting future demand across a short term and long term view
  • Highlighting capacity gaps, over-allocation, and requirements early
  • Producing clear reporting for senior leadership around demand, capacity, and delivery risk
  • Helping reduce last-minute pressure on engineering teams

What I’m looking for:

You’ll likely come from a resource management, PMO, delivery coordination, workforce planning, or technical operations background within IT Services, Telecommunications or even within the channel. Experience in IT services, managed services, networks, infrastructure, cloud, telecoms, or technical project delivery would be ideal. You’ll need to be organised, calm, confident with data, and comfortable working with technical stakeholders. This would suit someone who enjoys bringing structure to busy delivery teams and can challenge timelines or assumptions when capacity does not line up.

Why join:

This is a good opportunity to join a growing technology services business where the role will have real visibility and influence, as well as the opportunity to be part of some really high profile, dynamic professional services projects. You’ll be working directly with technical leadership and helping shape how resource planning, forecasting, and delivery capacity are managed as the business continues to scale.

If this opportunity has peaked your interest, please do apply or reach out to me directly for an informal chat.
