Are you already operating at 3rd line, but want a role where you genuinely influence technology, mentor others, and work on complex environments — not just close tickets? This opportunity is built for engineers who want to sit at the top of support, acting as a true technical authority across infrastructure, cloud, and networking, while playing a key role in major incidents, problem management, technical improvement, and team development. You’ll be joining an environment where senior engineers are trusted to take ownership, shape technical standards, and directly support the development of others.
This is one of the most senior customer-facing technical roles within the support function. You will act as the ultimate escalation point, owning complex and business-critical issues, supporting major incidents, contributing to projects and presales activity, and helping drive continuous improvement across support services. Your focus will sit heavily across Azure, infrastructure, and networking, with wide exposure across customer environments.
Key responsibilities include:- Acting as the final escalation point for complex technical issues
- Leading on major incidents, root cause analysis, and problem management
- Advanced troubleshooting across cloud, infrastructure, and networking
- Providing technical direction and SME support to wider teams
- Creating and maintaining technical documentation, SOPs, and best practice
- Supporting and mentoring engineers across 1st–3rd line
- Involvement in projects, change enablement, and presales support
- Proactively identifying service improvements and technical risks
You will work across a broad and modern technical stack, including:
Technical Environment:- Azure: VMs, AVD, VNets, NSGs, VPNs, subscriptions, identity & access
- Windows Server: ADDS, DNS, DHCP, IIS, RDS, File/Print
- Networking & security: firewalls, VPNs, switching, segmentation
- Backup & DR: server, hypervisor and cloud-to-cloud platforms
- Advanced email & domain management: SPF, DKIM, DMARC, migrations
- Strong experience in a 3rd line / senior support / escalation role
- Advanced troubleshooting across infrastructure, cloud, and networking
- Confidence owning major incidents and complex, stalled issues
- Someone who enjoys mentoring, documentation, and technical leadership
- A proactive engineer who looks to improve environments, not just fix them
- Experience with enterprise firewalls and MSP toolsets
- Exposure to MDR / EDR / Zero Trust environments
- Physical server and data‑centre hardware experience
- VoIP, collaboration systems, or multi‑tenant support environments
- Senior technical ownership, not just ticket resolution
- Real influence over standards, fixes, and service improvement
- Strong involvement in projects and architectural change
- Opportunity to develop others and help shape the technical direction
- Hybrid working model within a collaborative engineering function
If you’re a senior engineer who wants technical depth, visibility, and impact — and not a role where you’re siloed into pure escalations — this is worth a confidential conversation.
