We are working with an established Food business in recruiting a newly created position within their global purchasing operations. We are partnering with a well-known and recognised Food business, which has been supplying to the UK's major supermarkets for over 45 years. As the Buyer, you will be responsible for leading the sourcing and negotiation on the range of Food finished goods and Ingredients. Our client's supply base is truly global, with suppliers in 16 countries, across the Far East, North Africa and South America. You will play a leading role in establishing excellent relationships with the niche supply base, coordinate robust and efficient supply chains and develop procurement strategies that align with the wider business and customer needs.
Buyer Responsibilities:
- Supplier Management: Select and manage suppliers through identification, evaluation, quality control, and risk assessment, ensuring compliance with international trade regulations.
- Procurement Strategies: Develop and implement global procurement strategies, optimising cost through negotiation of contracts, terms, and pricing. Utilise skills to negotiate best prices/payment terms/deals from suppliers.
Experience required:
- Strategic Procurement experience, ideally within the Food, FMCG or Finished Goods industry.
- Management of global suppliers, ensuring optimisation of driving value and supply chain efficiency, building healthy relationships and ensuring continuous flow.
- Strong negotiation and influencing skills.
- Excellent time management and interpersonal skills.
- Knowledge of international shipping, duties and delivery processes would be beneficial.
- Excellent planning and organisational skills.
- Strong IT skills and equally confident with spreadsheets.
Our client is based in Surrey and will require 4 days in the office a week, Fridays WFH.
