Associate/Senior Associate – Family Law – Edinburgh or Glasgow – Hybrid.

C£65K – £75k+ (DOE) + Excellent Benefits Package

We are delighted to partner with this established and respected firm who have offices located Edinburgh and Glasgow. An exciting opportunity for an Associate/Senior Associate to join their expanding family team based in either of their offices is currently available.

Our client is seeking a pro-active candidate eager to gain additional experience in family matters.

The successful candidate will be a focussed, ambitious and self-motivated lawyer who will be expected to work collaboratively with the other members of the team in a variety of cases involving the whole spectrum of family law.

The firm attracts a diverse range of family law work from complex high value divorce cases to advising those of modest wealth in a cost-effective way.

Regardless of the individual the firm represents they provide their clients with excellent client care delivering a solution-orientated approach.

Our client is seeking a candidate who will provide their family law clients with a clear direction and sound advice.

Role and responsibility;

  • Providing solution-orientated advice to clients on financial provision upon separation and divorce and acting for clients in child related matters including residence and contact disputes and child relocation applications.
  • Engaging, meeting and advising clients on your own. Taking excellent care of clients from the beginning of their cases through to the end.
  • Drafting financial settlement agreements, pre and post nuptial and cohabitation agreements and providing clear advice on the legal implications of those documents.
  • When the need arises, drafting pleadings and conducting advocacy in sheriff court litigation both in person and over WebEx.
  • Working collaboratively with other team members to look after their clients, including attending client meetings and follow-up work, attending consultations with counsel and assisting with the follow-up work, preparing productions, taking statements from witnesses and covering court hearings in the Sheriff Court.
  • Being actively involved in the practice area’s business development and strategic objectives in order to grow the firm’s client base.

Key Skills require;

  • 4+ years plus PQE in family law is essential.

  • Shows understanding of clients’ needs, and tailors advice appropriately.
