Registered Manager – Children’s Residential Home
Location: Southampton, Hampshire
Salary: Up to £46,125 per annum
Job type: Permanent, full-time

About the role:
A respected care provider is seeking an experienced Registered Manager to lead a residential home for children and young people with learning disabilities and autism. The home accommodates up to five young people aged 7-17 and provides a therapeutic and nurturing environment that promotes growth, independence, and emotional well-being.
You will lead a multidisciplinary team in delivering person-centred care within a home that values empathy, respect, and positive role modelling. The role requires a strong operational leader with a passion for improving outcomes and ensuring regulatory compliance.
Key responsibilities:
- Provide effective leadership and management of the children’s home
- Promote a respectful and child-centred culture within the home
- Ensure safeguarding, care planning, and therapeutic support align with national standards
- Recruit, train, supervise, and develop the care team to deliver high-quality services
- Manage day-to-day operations, including rota planning, record-keeping, and inspections
- Build and maintain professional relationships with families, external agencies, and regulators
- Oversee transition planning for admissions and discharges
- Ensure compliance with Ofsted regulations and internal policies
- Maintain effective communication and reflective practice within the team
- Lead on audits, health & safety, and staff development
- Promote positive behavioural support strategies and manage challenging behaviours appropriately
- Ensure young people’s needs are met, including cultural, dietary, and emotional wellbeing
Requirements:
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in a residential children’s care setting
- Previous supervisory or management experience (Deputy or Registered Manager level)
- NVQ Level 5 in Health & Social Care or Residential Childcare (or willingness to complete)
- Strong understanding of safeguarding, learning disabilities, and autism spectrum conditions
- Confident leading teams and managing complex care environments
- Flexible and resilient, with the ability to manage changing priorities
- Driving licence preferred
