We are delighted to partner with our client who boasts a Chambers UK 2025 and Legal 500-ranked employment team, focusing on employer-based matters. This is an interesting and varied role advising the firm's diverse client base on a range of employment law issues and representing them in employment tribunals. Our client sets itself apart with vast local experience and a commitment to accessible, personalised service in employment law.

Key areas of responsibility include:

  • Advising on the employment aspects of transactions, such as corporate and outsourcing projects
  • Handling day-to-day employment queries, including disciplinary and grievance matters
  • Managing collective matters, such as redundancies, integration, and TUPE
  • Advising on trade union matters
  • Representing clients in tribunal litigation

The successful candidates can be based either in our Aberdeen, Inverness, or Edinburgh office, and will:

  • Manage their own caseload and assist with complex cases with team support
  • Deliver high-quality client care
  • Handle both contentious and non-contentious employment matters for employers and employees
  • Work with clients in person and remotely, attending tribunals and court when required
  • Participate in business development activities
  • Ensure compliance with Anti-Money Laundering regulations, including client verification

The ideal candidate will possess 4+pqe in Employment Law coupled with:

  • A strong track record of advising clients and representing them in employment tribunals
  • The ability to identify key issues and conduct effective legal merits assessments
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • A team-focused approach, with the ability to work independently
  • Strong organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise and multitask
  • Attention to detail, particularly when working with figures
  • Confidence in making timely, well-considered decisions
  • Commercial awareness and the ability to assess risks effectively

Your experience should include managing a caseload that covers:

  • Settlement agreements
  • Constructive, unfair, and wrongful dismissal cases
  • Sickness absence issues
  • Discrimination and whistleblowing claims
  • ACAS early conciliation
  • Employment tribunals
