The Federation of Winklebury Infant and Junior Schools is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, highly motivated, and empathetic HLTA/1:1 Year 6 Catch-Up Tutor. This is a varied and rewarding split role, which will include both class cover across the school and dedicated 1:1 and small-group support for Year 6 pupils. The successful candidate will work closely with children to help build confidence, close gaps in learning, and support their preparation for SATs.

The successful candidate will:

  • be passionate about working with children and want to make a difference,
  • have a good understanding of safeguarding and always put the needs of the children first,
  • have the ability to independently deliver lessons to the whole class,
  • have a good understanding of the requirements of the end of KS2 SATs,
  • have the ability to plan and deliver 1:1 sessions to address gaps in learning identified by the class teacher,
  • have a good understanding of how children learn and use this to support individuals and groups of children in their learning,
  • truly believe in inclusion, support the thrive approach and believe that every child has the right to the best possible education,
  • promote positive behaviour strategies and manage challenging behaviour according to agreed procedures in a calm, positive and consistent manner,
  • be patient, cheerful, enthusiastic and resilient,
  • have good literacy, numeracy and communication skills,
  • understand the importance of confidentiality in a school and maintain high levels of confidentiality,
  • be able to administer first aid and meet the medical needs of the children,
  • be able to support the organisation and the administration of health and safety protocols within school,
  • be a reflective learner who is always open to new initiatives.
