The Purchasing Manager purchases materials, parts, supplies and equipment in line with purchasing strategy, processes and policy. It drives business value by optimising price, delivery and other supplier terms.
Responsibilities
- Understands and applies relevant category strategies, based on deep understanding of Beaufort products, global / regional / sector processes, stakeholder needs and business requirements.
- Ensures effective relationship building with allocated suppliers, ensuring buying is carried out within key supplier relationship terms.
- Identifies contract requirements and writes detailed supplier specifications for an allocated supplier portfolio.
- Collates and analyses buying data using agreed tools, methods and formats.
- Organises and summarises findings using appropriate software and presents findings to appropriate standards and formats.
- Evaluates costs and identifies variances or opportunities to improve profitability against individual suppliers or types of goods.
- Resolves queries from internal or external customers or suppliers by providing information on complex processes and the related policies, referring to others where necessary for interpretation of policy.
- Identifies instances of non-compliance with Beaufort’s purchasing policies and procedures and/or relevant regulatory codes and codes of conduct, reporting these and escalating issues as appropriate.
- Contributes to stakeholder engagement through identifying stakeholders, finding out their needs, issues and concerns.
- Communicates effectively to promote understanding and commitment.
- Develops own capabilities by participating in assessment and development planning activities as well as formal and informal training and coaching; gains or maintains external professional accreditation where relevant to improve performance and fulfil personal potential.
- Maintains an in-depth understanding of technology, external regulation, and industry best practices through ongoing education and reading specialist media.

- 4-5 years of general role-related experience enables job holder to deal with most situations and to advise others.
