At Beaufort Aerospace and Defence, our Engineering team is responsible for developing everything from initial concept to final product design. This includes envisioning new products, evolving existing lines, and delivering solutions that align with our customers' safety needs and our brand values. Working within the Materials, Processes and Testing (MP&T) team, the Materials & Process Engineer will play a key role in materials development and qualification. You will work with a multi-disciplined team of engineers to test and validate materials supporting Beaufort's world leading safety solutions. Driven, organised and multi-disciplined engineers will thrive in this role and enjoy the day-to-day variety it offers.
Key Responsibilities- Interpret and manage technical requirements to create and execute material qualification programme plans.
- Advise on material selection by evaluating material properties and recommending suitable materials for specific applications.
- Act as a point of contact for material and process queries, and improvement activities.
- Assist with R&D activities on new materials and processes to achieve the strategic growth of the business.
- Lead and accelerate multiple materials qualification activities, coordinating cross-functional stakeholders and manage risk whilst adhering to tight deadlines.
- Work closely with supply chain and quality departments to ensure robust materials controls with compliance to legal and industry standards.
- Identify process inefficiencies and contribute to continuous improvement across engineering systems and practices.
- Foster an inclusive, respectful, and supportive team environment.
- Promote and uphold a safety-first culture throughout all activities.
- Engage in professional development through formal & informal training, including self-led learning and mentoring.
- Stay up to date on relevant technologies, regulations, and industry best practices.
- Strong and demonstrable experience in materials engineering, with the ability to validate work independently and review peers’ work.
- Material and Bonding Process knowledge.
- Knowledge of project management fundamental principles and evidence of effective project management.
- Strong organisational and time management skills, consistently meeting commitments.
- Analytical thinker who can interpret complex and sometimes conflicting data to solve problems effectively.
- Excellent communicator, adaptable to various audiences.
- Collaborative team player with a continuous improvement mindset.
- Familiarity with efficient engineering processes and best practices.
- University Degree level in an engineering discipline e.g. Aerospace, Mechanical or Materials, or a related discipline.
- Minimum 2-5 years of relevant experience in a manufacturing or engineering environment.
- Experience with textiles would be advantageous.
- Experience with the automotive or aerospace industry would be advantageous.
- Experience of obsolescence management and REACH regulations would be advantageous.
Fridays off! Our full time week is 9 hours per day Monday to Thursday!
