Role: Residential Childcare Support Worker

Location: Southampton & Eastleigh areas

Salary: From £32,846 per annum, inclusive of enhancements

Hours: Full-time, 37 hours per week, plus 10 sleep-in shifts per month and overtime opportunities

Roster: 3 week rolling roster to include weekends and Bank holidays

Average of 3 long shifts and sleeps per week = 24.5 hours x 3

About the Role

As a Residential Childcare Support Worker, you will perform a vital role in our children's lives, working as part of a team, and being a responsible, trusted ‘parent figure’ for looked-after children.

Your responsibilities include:

  • Building strong, positive relationships with children who have experienced traumatic and difficult backgrounds
  • Supporting their educational and emotional development, helping them to heal and thrive
  • Plan and co-ordinate engaging, fun activities, encouraging the children’s leisure interests
  • Ensure a structured, safe, comfortable home environment
  • Follow regulatory processes using IT, good administration and record keeping

About you

To succeed as a Residential Childcare Support Worker, we’re looking for candidates who are:

  • Dedicated to child safeguarding
  • Empathetic and effective communicators, able to form trusted, meaningful relationships with children
  • Passionate about making a positive difference in children’s welfare
  • Resilient and patient, capable of handling challenging behaviours
  • Proactive and creative in activity planning
  • Capable of practical ‘life skills’ including cooking, cleaning and good home management
  • Detail-oriented and competent users of IT, to ensure that every child’s needs are met and documented in line with regulatory expectations and standards

Essential must haves

  • A valid UK driving licence and a willingness to travel as part of the role, including areas of Southampton, Eastleigh and Head Office in Ringwood.
  • Willingness to pursue relevant qualifications such as NVQ Level 4 in Children, Young People & Families Practitioner.
