Responsible to: Head of Engineering

Reporting positions: Cold End Engineering Technician

Location: Rotherham

Shift Pattern: Days (Monday-Friday)

Main Areas of Responsibility:

  • Managing, training and developing the Cold End Engineering Technicians
  • Ensuring all Health & Safety requirements are met within the Cold End Engineering Department
  • Manage time and attendance for your department
  • Manage training of your team using a skills matrix and plan training to improve skill levels as needed
  • Lead the team by example, spending time with them on the job to pass on your knowledge
  • Ensure all works are to a good standard and your teams leave work areas in a presentable condition, and hand back forms are completed as required
  • Generate and deliver toolbox talks as required
  • Plan work for your team utilising CMMS system and ensure your team complete reports as required
  • Manage breakdowns to ensure a satisfactory solution is found in a timely manner and external department heads are kept up to date
  • Attend the 8.30am department meeting after reviewing the previous day/days reports
  • Manage financial and labour budgets and complete the necessary budget spreadsheets
  • Provide technical backup for day and shift engineers
  • Provide out of hours telephone support
  • Attend call outs when necessary
  • Actively look for improvements and where possible justify and implement
  • Generate / Revise PPM’s to better maintain equipment
  • Assist with Projects and generation of CEA/RFAs as required
  • Stand in for engineering managers and Head of Engineering as required
  • Highlight critical items and ensure spares are added to stock
  • Manage contractors, ensuring their RAMS are correct before attending site, and work is completed to a good standard
  • Issue Permits where necessary and perform risk assessments as required to ensure work gets completed safely
  • Cooperate with compliance related contractors and ensure actions are completed promptly and to a good standard
  • Promote H&S and ensure department follows company and H&S policies at all times
  • Willingly contribute to improving H&S within the department and all other areas, including the revising and writing of new JSI’s
  • Any other reasonable duties as requested within skill set

Person Specification:

  • FMCG maintenance background - essential
  • Electrical Engineering qualification – apprentice trained
  • PC Literate - Microsoft Office (Word and Excel)
  • Maths, English and Science qualifications
