About Beataboutmusic (BAM)

Beataboutmusic is building the infrastructure the independent music scene has been missing. We help artists turn local discovery into real-world turnout, repeat fans, and sustainable income. Not more followers. Not more noise. Actual fans who show up, stay connected, and support artists directly. We’re early-stage, pre-revenue, and deliberately building this alongside artists rather than on top of them.

The Role

We’re looking for an Artist Community Manager to become the primary human bridge between BAM and the artists using it. This is not a “post on socials and reply to DMs” role. It’s about helping artists understand how to use BAM strategically, not just mechanically, and helping us learn from them as we build. You’ll work closely with the founders and product team, shaping how artists engage with the platform and how the platform evolves in response.

What You’ll Do

  • Artist Engagement & Support
    • Onboard new artists and help existing ones get real value from BAM
    • Be a consistent, trusted point of contact for artist questions and feedback
    • Proactively engage artists to keep them informed, involved, and supported
  • Platform & Feature Education
    • Keep artists up to date on new features, releases, and changes
    • Translate product updates into clear, practical guidance artists can actually use
    • Help artists understand why features exist, not just how to click the buttons
  • Fan Strategy & Subscriptions
    • Help artists think strategically about fan subscriptions and supporter tiers
    • Advise on what to offer fans, how to frame value, and how to build ongoing support
    • Share best practices, examples, and playbooks as they emerge
  • Community Building
    • Foster a sense of shared learning and momentum across the artist community
    • Surface common challenges, insights, and opportunities back to the BAM team
    • Help shape future community initiatives, resources, and programmes

What We’re Looking For

You might be:

  • An artist, manager, promoter, or community lead with hands-on scene experience
  • Someone who understands grassroots music economics and fan relationships
  • Comfortable explaining strategy without jargon or bullshit
  • Empathetic, organised, and confident working directly with artists

You don’t need:

  • Startup buzzwords
  • Influencer energy
  • To pretend you have all the answers

You do need:

  • Good judgement
  • Clear communication
  • A genuine interest in helping artists build something sustainable

Compensation & Equity

This is an equity-based role while BAM is pre-revenue. You’ll receive a meaningful equity allocation reflecting early contribution and responsibility. This role is intended to be one of the first paid hires as revenue comes in. Equity terms will be transparent and agreed upfront.

If you’re looking for immediate cash compensation, this won’t be the right fit. If you’re interested in building something long-term with real ownership, it might be.

Why This Role Matters

Artists are not “users” to us. They’re partners. This role directly shapes:

  • How artists experience BAM
  • How effectively they convert fans into supporters
  • How the product evolves in response to real-world needs

You’ll be part of the core team helping define what BAM becomes.

How to Apply

Send:

  • A short note on your background and connection to the music scene
  • Why this role makes sense for you right now
  • Any relevant experience working with artists, communities, or platforms

No formal CV required. Substance beats polish.
