Bearnes Hampton & Littlewood, the leading regional auction house, is seeking a full-time Accounts Administrator to join our team in Exeter. This role is crucial to the day-to-day operations of our busy auction room and involves overseeing the client and vendor accounts and face-to-face customer service.
Key Responsibilities:
- Managing clients accounts for both vendors and buyers.
- Raising invoices and taking payments.
- Reconciling auctions.
- Credit control.
- Stock control.
- Anti-money laundering responsibilities.
- Auction clerking.
- Bank reconciliation.
- Settlements.
- Answering telephones and helping clients with queries.
- Some reception cover duties.
- Customer facing role.
Requirements:
- Good customer service skills.
- Excellent numeracy skills.
- Proficient in IT including Microsoft Word and Excel and willingness to learn a bespoke auction software package.
- Competent with online banking.
- Strong attention to detail and a methodical, organised approach to work.
- Ability to work independently to tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong credit control and customer payment processing skills.
- Willingness to provide holiday cover and share responsibilities.
- Good skills in talking to customers and building strong relationships with them.
- Excellent and friendly professional telephone manner.
- Some accountancy/bookkeeping skills required, but training will be given in this niche role to fulfil the requirements of the role.
What We Offer:
- Full-time permanent position with regular weekday hours (Monday - Friday 9am - 5.15pm - some flexibility may be required on auction days), Saturdays mornings on a rota basis, up to a maximum of 12 per annum.
