BEAR Scotland is a leading provider of highway maintenance services across Scotland. We manage and maintain over 2,000km of Scotlands trunk road network, tackling just about every imaginable task and working round the clock to help keep Scotland moving.
The South-East Trunk Road Unit spans 506km through some of the busiest sections of the country, from central Scotland to through the Scottish Borders. Trunk roads in the South East range from the major multi-lane motorways across the central belt to roads through villages in the borders.
The South-East Unit includes 870 bridges and structures including the iconic Queensferry Crossing and Forth Road Bridge, as well as other major bridges such as the Kincardine Bridge and Clackmannanshire Bridge.
We have an exciting opportunity for a Road Asset Inspector to join our existing team at our Bonnyrigg Depot in our South East Unit, on a full-time basis. Reporting to the Asset Manager you will be responsible for recording defects that represent a hazard to the travelling public.
Roles And Responsibilities
- Undertaking weekly Safety Inspections to record defects that represent a hazard to the travelling public and, where safe to do so, carrying out minor repairs.
- Walked conditions inspections to visually assess the condition of assets to identify defects that will contribute to the establishment of programmes of routine maintenance tasks that do not require urgent repair.
- Walked conditions inspections to validate the inventory held in the Transport Scotland Asset Management Performance System and to collect and update the inventory when changes are made.
Knowledge, Skills And Experience
- A full driving licence is essential
- Previous experience of road maintenance is desirable, but Training will be provided
- High Attention to Detail
- Good Computer Skills due to use of transport Scotlands Asset Management Performance System
- Experience with Microsoft word and excel
