b Overview /b p In this role you lead the M E team within the Major Bridges section, focusing on inspection, maintenance, and management of swing and moveable bridge elements across Scotland’s iconic structures. You will oversee design, planning, procurement, and construction management for maintenance schemes, ensuring safety, compliance, and delivery against budget. The opportunity combines technical leadership with cross‑functional collaboration to sustain historic and strategic bridges. You will shape the approach to inspections, risk assessments, and project delivery, making a meaningful impact on Scotland’s infrastructure. /p b Pay / Benefits /b ul li Competitive salary /li li Generous holiday entitlement /li li Pension scheme with up to 6% employer match /li li Employee benefits including annual leave purchase /li li Cycle to Work scheme /li li Employee Assistance Programme /li /ul b Responsibilities /b ul li Assist the Bridge Manager in leading the design team, sub‑consultants and contractors /li li Oversee outline and detailed design of swing bridge maintenance schemes, including technical approval and design certification /li li Ensure compliance with technical standards and submissions for Departures from Standard /li li Produce tender documents and preconstruction information packages /li li Tender evaluation and support for contract award /li li Manage internal financial performance of schemes /li li Ensure compliance with Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality procedures within the Integrated management system /li li Comply with CDM Regulations and perform roles of Principal Designer and, where needed, Principal Contractor /li li Coordinate production, issue and archiving of drawings, documents and scheme files /li li Ensure environmental screening and mitigation measures are in place before works /li /ul b Key requirements /b ul li Degree level education in Mechanical, Electrical, System Control or Civil Engineering /li li Chartered status or membership with professional body (CEng MICE or MIET or MIMechE) or working towards /li li Experience in assessment, design and maintenance of moveable bridge structures or similar /li li Project management experience and team leadership /li li Clear communicator /li li Full UK driving licence /li /ul ul li Clear communicator /li li Team leadership /li li Stakeholder liaison /li li Moveable bridge design and maintenance /li li Technical approval and design certification /li li Tendering and contract procurement /li /ul
