Planning Officer Location: South Queensferry Category: Network Full Time / Permanent, 40 Hours per week, Monday – Friday, on site BEAR Scotland is a leading provider of highway maintenance services across Scotland. We manage and maintain over 2,00km of Scotland’s trunk road network, tackling just about every imaginable task and working round the clock to help keep Scotland moving. The South East Trunk Road Unit spans 506km through some of the busiest sections of the country, from central Scotland to through the Scottish Borders. Trunk roads in the South East range from the major multi-lane motorways across the central belt to roads through villages in the borders. The South East Unit includes 870 bridges and structures including the iconic Queensferry Crossing and Forth Road Bridge, as well as other major bridges such as the Kincardine Bridge and Clackmannanshire Bridge. We have an exciting opportunity for a Network Officer to join our existing team. Reporting to the network manager, you will be responsible for being the main point of contact for all matters relating to planning applications and management of the development management function of the APMS. This is a full-time role based in our South Queensferry Office; however, part time applications will be considered. Role includes: * Liaise with Developers and Transport Scotland in relation to all planning applications and provide advice on the suitability of applications to the Director. * Use and comply APMS throughout the contract period * Assist with applications requiring transport appraisal assessment, local development plans and any appeal process. * Subject to an Order, assist the Director with preparation and administration of minutes or letters of agreement Knowledge, Skills and Experience: * Planning Experience – Desirable * Engineering experience – Desirable * Previous experience with trunk road maintenance – Desirable * Strong attention to detail * Strong Communication skills * Ability to use own initiative Why BEAR?
