Full Time / Permanent, 40 Hours per week, Monday – Friday, OT & On Call Rota. Travel and working away is required for this role.

BEAR Scotland is a leading provider of highway maintenance services across Scotland. We manage and maintain over 2,000km of Scotland’s trunk road network, tackling just about every imaginable task and working round the clock to help keep Scotland moving. The North West Trunk Road Unit spans some 1,422km of trunk road through some of the most scenic parts of the country.

We have vacancies for Special Project Operatives to join our existing operations team. You will report to the Special Projects Manager and will be responsible for helping to keep Scotland moving.

Responsibilities and Activities:

  • Carrying out kerbing, ducting, drainage and fencing works
  • Performing seawall and ironwork repairs
  • Delivering emergency works and footway improvements
  • Managing Traffic Control on site
  • Preparing written reports, including fault details

Knowledge, Skills and Experience:

  • HGV Licence, Class 1 is desirable
  • Good understanding of Health & Safety Rules and Procedures
  • Previous roadworking experience is desirable, but full training will be provided
  • Willingness to undertake training and achieve competence in all aspects of the role
  • Physically fit, and able to work in challenging outdoor conditions
  • Experience operating small plant machinery
  • Plant, Traffic Management & Health & Safety tickets are an advantage
  • Flexibility to work and stay from home as required
