BEAR Scotland is a leading road maintenance and management service provider in Scotland, maintaining and improving Scottish Trunk Roads including bridges and structures through some of the most scenic, but challenging, parts of the country.
We develop and build local management and delivery teams in each area where we hold a contract. These teams are supported by both national partners and local SME suppliers to provide an economic, flexible, resilient and sustainable service.
We have an exciting opportunity for a Quantity Surveyor to join our Commercial Team working on our long-term contract with Transport Scotland to manage and maintain the Scottish Trunk Road Network.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- As a Quantity Surveyor, your overall objective of this role is to ensure the effective delivery of the commercial function within the Contract.
- You will collaborate with the team to:
- Measure and value progress of works based on a schedule of rates
- Collection, collation and storage of relevant measurement data
- Ensuring all site and measurement records are completed by our operational teams
- Management of Sub-Contractors including assessing applications, preparing payment notices, monthly liabilities and accruals
- Reporting the Cost/Value analysis of various sized projects
Knowledge, Skills and Experience:
- Quantity Surveying / Commercial Management Degree / Qualification (Essential)
- Quantity Surveying Experience
- Background in Civils or Construction Environment (Desirable)
- Strong IT Skills – Particularly with Microsoft Excel
- Ability to set priorities and work to strict deadlines
- Sound knowledge of MMHW
