BEAR Scotland is a leading provider of highway maintenance services across Scotland. We manage and maintain over 2,000km of Scotland’s trunk road network, tackling just about every imaginable task and working round the clock to help keep Scotland moving. The M80 Stepps to Haggs DBFO links Glasgow and the south to Stirling and the north, and is one of the busiest Motorway sections in central Scotland. BEAR Scotland has been responsible for the operation and maintenance of the M80 Stepps to Haggs DBFO since construction of the project began in March 2009.

We have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic Senior Network Engineer to join our existing team. You will report directly to the Operational Manager and assist in the delivery of the key contract deliverables and ensuring the day-to-day requirements of the M80 DBFO Contract are fulfilled.

Road and Infrastructure Responsibilities:

  • Preparation of inspection programme.
  • Assist in the management of defects to ensure these are identified and repaired within contractual timescales.
  • Ensure compliance with Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality procedures that form part of BEAR’s Integrated Management Systems.
  • Assist with the management in the performance aspects of the M80 Project.
  • Preparation of Cyclic Maintenance Programmes in Liaison with the Operations Team.
  • Investigating complaints from the police, members of the public or third parties.
  • Assist in the delivery of the Winter Service throughout the winter season.
  • Dealing with Planning Applications, Development Control, Tourist Signposting and Claims for Damages.
  • Site supervision of subcontractors as necessary.

Knowledge, Skills, and Experience:

  • Qualification in Civil Engineering, or similar.
  • Knowledge of Company / M80 DBFO Procedures.
  • Knowledge of New Roads and Street Works Act 1991 and the Health and Safety at Work Act.
  • Ability to work to tight deadlines and work under pressure.
  • Good oral and written communication skills.
  • A valid, full UK Driving License is required.
