BEAR Scotland is a leading provider of highways maintenance services across Scotland. We manage and maintain over 2,500km of Scotland's trunk road network with a fleet size of over 400 vehicles.
An opportunity has arisen for a suitable candidate to take on the role of Assistant Fleet Manager, looking after our Southeast contract. Reporting to the Fleet Manager, the Assistant Fleet Manager will assist in all aspects of Fleet activities. This will include visiting all depots within the Southeast contract to carry out vehicle inspections, driver hours and working time directive checks, monitor pre-use checks and carry out gate checks.
Applicants must hold a Level 3 Certificate of Professional Competence in National Road Haulage Operations.
Responsibilities and Activities:
- Ensure compliance with Health & Safety
- Programme and book PMIs & MOTs, vehicle equipment checks and tests, process and file records
- Check PMI & MOT attendance and reports
- Monitor pre-use checks, repairs, servicing, PMIs and MOTs
- Maintain motor insurance database
- Check compliance of UK domestic driver hours rules
- Maintain Operator Licence as required
- Deputise for the Fleet Manager
- Carry out driving licence checks and monitor 3rd party checking
- Other tasks as required
Knowledge, Skills and Experience:
- Ability to comply with relevant Health and Safety legislation
- Knowledge of Transport law
- Highway Maintenance experience
- Capable of self-management and self-motivation
- Ability to solve problems
- Ability to work effectively in a team
- Good communication skills
- Knowledge of or hold CPC in Road Haulage (train/work towards)
- Computer literate
- A full approved UK driving licence and Cat C licence
