Overview
Apprentice IT Support
Location: Perth, with some presence in South Queensferry
Contract: Fulltime, 40 hours per week, Monday – Friday, Hybrid working available after 3 months employment
BEAR Scotland is a leading road maintenance and management service provider in Scotland, maintaining and improving Scottish Trunk Roads including bridges and structures through some of the most scenic, but challenging, parts of the country.
Formed in 2000, BEAR Scotland is an alliance of three highly successful organisations who are prominent in the United Kingdom roads sector – Vinci, Jacobs and Breedon – joining together to provide trunk road network management and maintenance solutions to Transport Scotland.
We rely on strong digital systems to support our teams — from office staff to engineers working on site. We’re now looking to bring in a motivated IT Apprentice to join our team and build a career in IT Support while gaining a nationally recognised qualification – A Modern Apprenticeship in Digital technology: IT Support (SCQF Level 6).
Roles and Responsibilities
- Setting up and maintaining user accounts and access permissions
- Installing, configuring, and updating hardware & software
- Troubleshooting user issues
- Supporting laptops, printers, and mobile devices
- Learning the basics of networking and IT security
- Helping roll out new IT systems and updates across the company
- Providing excellent customer service to colleagues at all levels
- Documenting solutions and maintaining IT records
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
- You don’t need previous IT Work experience – we’ll provide the full training. We’re more interested in your attitude, curiosity and willingness to learn.
- Ideally you will hold (or be working towards) National 5’s / Highers, ideally including Computing, Business or Maths
- Have a strong interest in Technology and problem-solving
- Be organised and able to manage your time effectively
- Enjoy helping people and communicating clearly
