The HVAC Service Technician will repair and maintain heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems. You will diagnose problems, explain these to customers in clear, non-technical terms, relay costs to customers, and offer alternative solutions.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Performs routine maintenance on HVAC systems to ensure they operate properly.
  • Inspects and troubleshoots problems with existing HVAC units.
  • Installs replacement parts on existing HVAC units.
  • Maintains inventory of replacement parts and orders replacements.
  • Complies with company and industry safety standards.
  • Cleans, adjusts and repairs systems, and performs warranty services.
  • Keeps records and logs of maintenance functions.
  • Maintains a clean and organized service truck, and ensures it is up to date with inspections and maintenance.
  • Ensures compliance with appliance standards and with the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
  • Takes thorough and clear notes of all findings while troubleshooting, repairing or maintaining HVAC equipment.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Required Skills/Abilities:
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Extensive knowledge of HVAC systems and equipment.
  • Ability to use power and hand tools.
  • Ability to use thermometers, pressure gauges, and other testing devices to evaluate HVAC system.
  • Ability to read operation and repair manuals for HVAC systems.
  • Ability to follow instructions.
  • Excellent mechanical skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, as required to interact with customers.
  • Valid driver's license.

Education And Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • 3-5 years of related experience preferred.
  • EPA Certification.

Physical Requirements:

  • Physically able to work on HVAC units.
  • Will be required to work in settings with extreme cold or extreme heat, depending on time of year.
  • Prolonged periods of standing, kneeling, crawling, or climbing ladders.
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds at a time.
  • Ability to work in small, tight spaces for extended periods of time.
